Psychological Evaluations
ABOUT EVALUATIONS
Who I See
I offer evaluations to adult clients.
How I Practice
I practice using a therapeutic assessment model that engages clients as active contributors in the evaluation process. In this approach, assessment is seen as a chance for reflection and change, rather than simply diagnostic and informational. We will focus not just on diagnoses and behaviors, but on what might be going on beneath the surface. This whole-person approach to psychological assessment aims to help clients feel seen and understood, giving them a way to reframe their challenges into a more comprehensive and compassionate narrative.
Adult ADHD Evaluations
Adult ADHD evaluations seek to identify the current presence of difficulties with attention, concentration, impulsivity, and hyperactivity consistent with the neurodevelopmental pattern of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Evaluation procedures vary according to the complexity of the clinical presentation, as well as the need for documentation by other organizations where accommodations may be sought. To address different evaluation needs, I offer three tiers of ADHD evaluation. All tiers of evaluation use standardized tests and procedures and provide diagnos(es) as appropriate. Feedback/review of results, recommendations and strategies for moving forward, and documentation are also provided.
ADHD Tier 1
Fully remote - Available to adults throughout California
Tier 1 ADHD evaluations are brief or “targeted” ADHD evaluations that focus primarily on the symptoms and behaviors associated with ADHD. The evaluation consists of a clinical interview, a structured diagnostic interview, and psychological measures filled out by you and others who know you well. If you meet criteria for ADHD, an ADHD diagnosis is provided. This type of evaluation also screens for the presence of differential or co-occurring disorders; however, because the evaluation focuses primarily on ADHD, other mental health disorders are not diagnosed.
This type of evaluation is often helpful for adults seeking self-understanding, or those wishing to proceed with psychiatric medications and/or ADHD therapy. I do not provide medication management; however, if you receive an ADHD diagnosis, the results of the evaluation can be provided as documentation to a prescribing provider. Feedback includes recommendations and strategies for managing challenges and moving forward in an affirming manner. Documentation is limited to a brief statement of services and diagnosis, if applicable.
Individuals with notable mental health symptoms/diagnoses, suspected learning or cognitive concerns, complex health histories, gifted/high intelligence individuals, or those who are seeking accommodations in school or examinations will be better served by a more comprehensive evaluation. If additional testing or assessment is needed, Tier 2 or Tier 3 may be recommended.
Fee: $975
ADHD Tier 2
Fully remote or hybrid remote/in-office
Tier 2 ADHD evaluations include a targeted ADHD evaluation plus a more in-depth evaluation of psychiatric symptoms. This type of evaluation may be helpful for individuals with mental health conditions that may be impacting attention and concentration, such as mood, anxiety, or trauma disorders. This type of evaluation is recommended if you have had treatment for mental health conditions but your attention and concentration issues have not fully resolved and there is a question about underlying ADHD. It is also appropriate for individuals with mental health histories that require a more thorough investigation for an accurate ADHD diagnosis to be made.
Gifted/high intelligence individuals who struggle with executive functioning can feel confused about their performance at work or in higher education, and may wonder if they have ADHD that was missed as a child. Distinguishing these two neurodiverse profiles requires a thorough understanding of their similarities and differences. Tier 2 evaluation provides sufficient time to make this determination.
Results from this type of evaluation can help establish a basis for requesting work accommodations, or school accommodations that do not require cognitive testing. Results are also helpful for proceeding with psychiatric medications and/or ADHD therapy, as in Tier 1 above. Feedback includes recommendations and strategies for managing challenges and moving forward in an affirming manner. Documentation includes a summary of findings.
Fee: $1600
ADHD Tier 3
Requires in-person visits
Tier 3 ADHD evaluations include a full battery of cognitive, intellectual, and academic testing. This type of evaluation is appropriate for individuals with suspected learning or cognitive concerns, or to establish a basis for requesting accommodations at college/university or entrance or licensing exams.
This evaluation includes targeted ADHD evaluation, psychiatric evaluation, and cognitive/IQ/academic testing. Neuropsychological testing may be included if needed. The extent of testing is determined on a case-by-case basis according to the specific needs of the evaluation request. Documentation includes a full psychological report.
Fee: Starts at $4000
